{"id":17136,"date":"2024-05-30T10:33:16","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T17:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pullman.wsu.edu\/classrooms\/?p=17136"},"modified":"2024-09-06T11:08:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-06T18:08:51","slug":"pullman-guc-summer-project-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pullman.wsu.edu\/classrooms\/2024\/05\/30\/pullman-guc-summer-project-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer update on Pullman GUC projects"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>While many students away from campus during the summer, things are happening in GUC land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a set of completed and ongoing current projects to be aware of as we prepare for Fall 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Completed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>Redefining classroom types<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have worked with faculty and scheduling partners to clarify classroom layout types, technology features, and classroom furniture. These changes are reflected on the <a href=\"https:\/\/pullman.wsu.edu\/classrooms\/pullman-classrooms\/locations-and-layouts\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pullman.wsu.edu\/classrooms\/pullman-classrooms\/locations-and-layouts\/\">Locations and Layouts<\/a> page and in 25live. Lecture-style, U-shaped, and collaborative are now the three layout options, while rooms with shared student technology (formerly called &#8220;active learning&#8221;) and videoconferencing optimization are now noted as technology features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Classroom visioning day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 19, 2024, Pullman faculty gathered to discuss optimal classroom layouts, furniture types, and technology features. Their feedback was used to inform the redefinition of classroom types and an active renovation project in Wilson-Short Hall. The GUC Committee plans to host visioning days regularly each semester to inform both long-term planning and decisions about specific upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Current \/ Ongoing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Wilson-Short GUCs are closed until Spring 2025 for remodeling.<\/li><li>Heald Hall planned for demolition, Schweitzer Engineering Hall large classroom to replace.<\/li><li>Development of a campus core strategy.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem\">Wegner G50 Power upgrades in partnership with CVM<\/span>.<\/li><li>System-wide GUC technology alignment efforts.<\/li><li>Creation of new collaborative furniture layouts in Carpenter 101, CUE 407, 412, Todd 204, 311.<\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem\">Replacement of damaged screens and projectors.<\/span><\/li><li>ADBF 1002 \u2013 videoconference gear replacement, EOL\/legacy equipment.<\/li><li>Bustad 145 \u2013 videoconference gear replacement, EOL\/legacy equipment.<\/li><li>College 125, 135, 220, 235 \u2013 Projectors, amplifiers, document cameras, screens, College 220 furniture.<\/li><li>FSHN T101 \u2013 repairs to flood damage.<\/li><li>Sloan 5, 7, 9, 38, 46, 150, 161, 163, 167, 169, 175, 233 receiving wireless locks.<\/li><li>Remote support (Watt box) infrastructure \u2013 all GUCs, provides for remote restart capabilities.<\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While many students away from campus during the summer, things are happening in GUC land.
